As Career Services Manager, you will manage the Career Advisement Team and provide support and assistance to program participants in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement. Due to the dynamics of working with individuals, this position necessitates an individual who is comfortable working in an environment that is constantly evolving.
The Washington Heights Workforce1 Career Center offers a set of services customized to meet the needs of foreign and native-born New Yorkers ages 18 and up. We work with customers who are authorized to work in the United States. Our center is unique in the way we help clients pursue training opportunities, connect to employment and develop valuable skills to improve job candidacy while navigating public benefits.
Responsibilities:
Successful Elements:
Oversee customer activities and assist with workshop schedules while creating solutions for attendance conflicts
Educate team about new program initiative requirements, special projects, and procedures in addition to being a liaison with funding agency
Assist in the preparation of project reports as needed (participation, sourcing, placement, etc.) and maintain organized database of required documentation
Oversee team activities that are providing case management and individualized assessment of work including follow up for outcomes or to refer to recruitment/workshops
Assist with referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies when needed, and conduct follow-up to help ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by the contract
Build a professional one-on-one working relationship with jobseekers to aid in eliminating barriers to obtaining and retaining employment by assisting with follow up services
Review and case note all customer contacts and activities including candidate services, updating trackers and Smartsheets
Manage front desk tasks, assignments, supplies, voicemails, expenses and checking in and triaging jobseekers
Reviewing and approving Initial and ITG including assessments, Center approvals, and follow up with participants
Ensure that post-hire contacts are made as required by the specific contract
Connect with team to create marketing campaigns for Recruitment events using various online platforms
Assigning team members to attend employer and community partner offsite events, virtual events and Introduction Orientations
Oversee team members conducting Asylum Seekers Outreach and update multiple outreach trackers documents by utilizing language line as needed
Attend leadership, Community Partner, and funding agency meetings to discuss team numbers, center numbers, initiatives, and improvements on an individual and team basis
Build and maintain relationships with Department of Labor to support building facilities
Oversee Center connection to Financial Empowerment Services
Help to ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by the contract
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
2 years of career advisement experience
Experience overseeing team activities
Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts
Demonstrated telephone, computer and written communication skills
Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract require
Customer service experience required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Bilingual, English/Spanish
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
