Job Description
Shore Educational Collaborative's Owen School, a school for children with disabilities from pre-kindergarten to age 22, is seeking an energetic, dedicated and flexible professional with exemplary customer service skills willing to support a school-wide culture of respect and achievement with an appreciation of diversity. The receptionist is the first point of contact for families and students, as well as a vital resource to the school community. The receptionist should always exhibit professionalism, treat people with respect, and be firm but compassionate in how they address the day-to-day challenges of a rigorous and purposeful school.

This position will be located at the entrance of our alternative middle and high school, so the candidate must be comfortable greeting and building professional relationships with middle and high school students who may display challenging behavior.

This is a full-time, year round position (40 hrs/week). During the summer, the person in this position will also support Shore's administrative office, also in Chelsea.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill receptionist duties to the highest level, exhibiting a pleasant and approachable demeanor and promoting cheerfulness, including routing incoming phone calls and greeting visitors.
  • Provide thorough and efficient service to students, staff, families, and guests of Shore Educational Collaborative through daily interactions and routine tasks.
  • Perform administrative and data entry duties; such as record and report student attendance, immunizations and assist with student registration.
  • Ensure office supplies are kept in stock.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing student communications, including but not limited to attendance letters, progress reports, and new school year welcome packets.
  • Manage common spaces to maintain appearance and functionality, and use.
  • Communicate with facilities team to support staff operations needs using the work order system.
  • Regularly stock and manage copier needs, inventory and supplies, including copier maintenance or paper requests.
  • Assist in the food service ordering, documentation, etc.

Requirements:
  • Fluency in oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish required.
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required, Associates or Bachelor's degree a plus.
