Job Description:

Pay: $40/hr

We are seeking a dedicated Bilingual Spanish early literacy tutor to join our team to provide in-person tutoring services to a Bronx elementary school starting ASAP. The ideal candidate will work in-person with elementary school students to improve their English language skills, and help them with the foundations of reading. Fluency in Spanish is required.

Compensation and Schedule:
  • Target launch date of December 2, 2024
  • Schedule of three 5-hour days per week
  • Pay of $40 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized and small-group tutoring sessions in English to students in grades K-2
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, particularly English Language Learners.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to promote student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with school staff to establish a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Education, English, or a related field.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Previous experience in tutoring or teaching early literacy to elementary school students
  • Familiarity with early literacy curricula (SPIRE, Fundations, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with elementary school students and adapt to their individual learning needs.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive educational environment.
