About the Organization and Position

Wonderful, well established non-profit provider of behavioral health services to children, youth, and families is searching for aChild / Adolescent Therapistfor their Crisis Stabilization team. As the oldest children's charity in the Western US, this organization helps individuals and their loved ones who struggle with mental illness and behavioral health issues by providing treatment, prevention programs, and children, youth, families, foster care, education, behavioral health, mental health, crisis intervention, crisis stabilization, after school programs and much more.

The Clinician works within a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for triaging crisis cases, clinically assessing clients for voluntary and involuntary holds due to danger to self, others, or grave disability, providing crisis intervention services, completing psychosocial assessments and documentation, providing clinical case management, care coordination, and follow up care to ensure successful linkages to appropriate services, all within a fast paced environment that consistently fluctuates in number of clients being served at any particular time (maximum 4).The new hire for this position will receive a $5,000 bonus after a year of service

Responsibilities

  • Highly skilled in mental health crisis evaluation and response. Strong understanding of mental health disorders, including impact of trauma on child/youth development, and psychological and behavioral interventions with children and families.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with a team of crisis evaluation and intervention professionals to rapidly assess mental health disorders, identify needs and solutions, and make recommendations for placement.
  • Knowledge of community resources, eligibility criteria, and referral processes in order to facilitate access to services and act as a liaison/advocate on behalf of clients and families.
  • Case management and discharge planning skills.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Must be registered with the BBS an Associate or Licensed
  • Experience working with children, youth and families experiencing acute crisis that put the youth in jeopardy of being psychiatrically hospitalized.
  • Experience working with at risk, disenfranchised and/or minority populations
  • Experience working with children, youth and families that have been or are involved in issues relating to trauma and/or abuse (verbal, physical, sexual, and neglect).
