The Bilingual Individual Treatment Aide (ITA) assists the Case Managers in providing support services to youth in Foster Care. They will also perform various case management responsibilities, keep case records up to date and perform clerical duties as assigned within the office setting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
A: Foster Parent and Child Support
- Provide foster parent and child support services for children as assigned.
- Conduct individual assessments related to each youth's life skills educational needs as assigned by the Case Managers.
- Assist the foster parent in delivering specific life skills education to the youth. This education might be in the areas of independent living skills, job readiness and training, consumer skills, etc.
- Establish and maintain a catalog of life skill packets, information, and available community resources.
B: Case Management
- As assigned by the Case Managers, the ITA will assist with various case management responsibilities. These might include locating alternative/respite placement, meeting with school officials, finding community resources (e.g., parenting classes, anger management groups), crisis intervention, arranging doctors and counseling appointments, etc.
- Assist foster parents in providing transportation of youth to appointments, community resources, and meetings
C. Administration
- Meet a minimum of one-half hour for every ten hours of work per week for individual supervision with the Lead Bilingual Case Manager to discuss policy, review program operations and direction, initiate discussions on problem areas, and to report on the
- status of youth, youth's family, and foster families. Number of hours of supervision will be increased to reflect complexities of case load.
- Participate a minimum of one hour per week in group supervision with other foster care staff members.
- Maintain and update case records and foster home files.
- Maintain files for agency and state forms, policies and procedures, resource literature, and other related documents.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A. Education and Experience
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Bachelors Degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with adolescent youth is preferred.
B. Additional Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check
- Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers permit and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Complete a de-escalation and restraint training within the first 45 days of employment to be eligible to be involved in the restraint of a resident if necessary.
- Must have a valid Washington State driver's license or be able to obtain one by date of employment
- Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
