This role is responsible for training new and existing Product Selectors on the Wegmans Warehouse Management System, while acting as a Product Selector and providing efficient and accurate selection of products ordered by Wegmans stores. You'll use your knowledge of Wegmans WMS, Distribution Best Practices, Power Lift, Power Industrial Trucks (PITs) and Preferred Work Methods (PWMs) to teach trainees the skills needed to be successful.

What will I do?

  • Train employees on proper use of power equipment, human safety procedures, and Wegmans high standards
  • Use lectures, discussions, interactive computer learning, videos, written materials, and hands-on demonstrations and exercises, answering questions and offering suggestions
  • Maintain open communication with Campus Safety Manager and HR to track completions and share PIT changes, updates, challenges, successes
  • Exhibit subject matter expertise for distribution best practices, and Preferred Work Methods (PWMs)
  • Ensure pallets are built and handled minimizing product damage in transportation and maximizing trailer space
  • Maintain accuracy throughout the selection and replenishment processes, perform order audits to determine accuracy/quality
  • Maintain knowledge of quality standards and requirements for products, utilizing Kronos and problem logs to ensure accurate compensation
  • Maintain integrity of the cold chain on loads that have temperature requirements and utilize technology at full capacity
  • Maintain a safety focus operating equipment consistent with OSHA standards, using required safety equipment, following evacuation procedures, reporting dangerous/threatening hazards to management, etc
  • Inform management of daily quality issues using reports as well as other forms of necessary communication
  • Maintain a clean work environment and ensure that all Wegmans sanitation and food safety guidelines are followed
  • Complete tasks within commitment times or batches to the best of their abilities
  • Meet engineered labor standards and production selection criteria consistently (CPMH, etc.)
  • Evaluate an operator's ability to handle a powered industrial truck safely in the workplace and certify employees on the initial 3-year OSHA Certification for all PITs, 3-year Re-Certifications and all Post Incident/Near Miss Refresher Training

Required Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of experience working with Power Industrial Trucks and High Reach Truck
  • Current or former certification will be required for Walkie Rider, Forklift and High Reach
  • Computer and Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience training and/ or coaching others (one-on-one or in a classroom setting)
  • Completion of any third-party training on Power Industrial Trucks
  • Knowledge of PWM's, power equipment training, Powerlift techniques and familiar with department best practices
  • Effective communication in both English and Spanish
