About Our Client
I'm exclusively partnered with the CFO at a multi-million dollar, well-known food manufacturer near Greendale, WI. Their products are sold in Costco, Target, Whole Foods, and more! This company is rapidly growing through key strategic business decisions, and due to this immense growth, they are now looking to bring on a Cost Accountant.
In this newly created role, this individual will have a clear and fast track career path to Cost Accounting Manager. Reporting into the Corporate Controller, you will have full ownership of the cost accounting function from start to finish - raw materials to finished goods. This is a great opportunity to have high visibility to Senior Leaders and make a direct and immediate impact on transforming the business for the better!
Job Description
Evaluate and track product costs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company guidelines.
Perform regular cost reviews to identify improvement areas and cost-saving opportunities.
Partner with production and procurement teams to collect relevant cost data.
Audit work orders and record daily production and consumption entries.
Support budget and forecast preparation by providing precise cost information.
Collaborate with departments to understand cost drivers and contribute to the budgeting process.
Compare actual performance with budgeted costs and perform variance analysis.
Create and analyze financial reports related to costs for management and stakeholders.
Manage the month-end close process for plants, including inventory-related accruals and journal entries.
Offer insights and recommendations from cost analyses to aid strategic decision-making.
Manage inventory valuation while ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Work with inventory management to align physical counts with financial records.
Develop and maintain effective inventory costing methods.
Establish and maintain procedures to optimize cost control and operational efficiency.
Propose and implement cost-saving measures without affecting product quality.
Track and report key performance metrics related to cost control.
Regularly assess and enhance cost accounting systems and processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Apply best practices in cost accounting to foster ongoing improvement.

The Successful Applicant
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of accounting experience
Manufacturing experience (food & beverage industry nice to have)
Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and standards knowing the process from start to finish (raw material to finished goods)
ERP system experience
Strong verbal and written communication
Understanding and application of accounting principles/practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
