English Language Learner (ELL) Interventionist
District assignment
Reports to the Director of Student Services
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
: To increase the English language proficiency (ELP) and achievement of English Language Learners. Modeling of direct PreK-8 instruction to teachers using different classrooms and school sites to facilitate instruction with the application of best teaching practices to support ELLs through explicit academic language development, vocabulary instruction, and effective sheltered instruction techniques for ELLs. Enhancing teachers' understanding of instructional strategies that optimize the learning for English Learners. Coaching teachers to apply the most effective teaching tools, skills, and attitudes to increase student engagement to support a standards-based learning environment for ELLs to increase academic achievement across the content areas. Lead English Language Learners to an increased demonstration of English proficiency, using knowledge and expertise in English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards, Structured English Immersion (SEI) models, systematic reading instruction, and using assessment data to guide instruction. Plan collaboratively with staff at all grade levels to effectively implement SEI strategies, utilize supplementary materials, and effectively implement intervention programs. Design effective intervention lessons, progress monitoring, and training for staff as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
:
1. Provide specialized instruction to ELL students.
2. Assist teachers in scheduling students for intervention.
3. Work with regular education teachers to ensure the use of proven SEI instructional strategies for ELL students in the classroom.
4. Assist in administering the state test for ELL students.
5. Monitor the progress of ELL students.
6. Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Language Learner Plans.
7. Assist paraprofessional in scheduling and student assignments.
8. Utilize standards-based instruction of ELLs through the use of a variety of scientific research-based teaching methods.
9. Evaluate, disaggregate, analyze and draw conclusions about student ELP (ACCESS) and student achievement data.
10. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
11. Proficiency in the seamless integration of technology to support student learning.
12. Self-directed, able to take the initiative, and committed to supporting the organization's goals.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree
Possess valid PEL Licensure through ISBE Valid and current ESL Endorsement
Knowledge of various models for quality language acquisition
Knowledge or various models of reading intervention
Knowledge of compensatory education grants and requirements
Bilingual in English/Spanish, preferably

POSITION DETAILS:
Work Days:

Salary Range: $57,330 - $97,781;
Initial salary is determined by prior experience and education.
