This is a continuous recruitment and may close at any time without notice.

EXAMINATION SCHEDULE:Initial application screening will result in a written examination. Subsequent testing dates to be posted as applicable.

Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:

Level I:High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provides the knowledge and abilities indicated below.

Level II:Satisfactory completion of training as a Human Services Technician I.

Both Levels:
Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license is required upon appointment.

Incumbents must have the ability to travel to designated locations.

Additional Requirements:
  • Applicants must submit a bilingual (English/Spanish) certificate before the final filing deadline. Applicants who wish to be considered for bilingual employment must submit a bilingual certificate issued by the Kern County Human Resources Division or its authorized agent, Bakersfield College.

    Employees who occupy positions designated as bilingual are paid dependent upon the required level of proficiency.
Examinations:
Written Exam (Weight 100%):Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of principles of customer service and human behavior; business practices; appropriate business attire; telephone etiquette; organizational practices and procedures; basic mathematics; basic computer operations; techniques of interviewing to obtain information; basic grammar; basic public contact skills.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed.
