POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Mortgage Loan Officer

Salary Range: Based on Experience

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00

Category: Full Time

Reports To: VP Mortgage Area Manager

SUMMARY

The Mortgage Loan Officer (LO) is responsible for generating leads through relationship sales of mortgage products within a sales market area. Additionally, he/she is responsible for managing the leads through application, qualification, and the collection of supporting documentation. The LO serves as the primary contact with the borrower(s), Realtor(s), Attorney(s), and others throughout the transaction.

The LO assures compliance with all SVB policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provides sales support and strong communication to customers, processors and management from loan pre-qualification to loan closing
  • Complete mortgage applications using Sauk Valley Bank's loan origination system (LOS), including initial and subsequent required documentation, disclosures and stipulations. Must ensure compliance with all lending policies and government regulations
  • Ensures loans are processed, closed and funded within Sauk Valley Bank's policies and procedures
  • Maintain production reports for customer leads and sales contact, loan pipeline and other pertinent sales activity reports
  • Responsible for self-generated leads through builders, real estate professionals, and other business referrals sources
  • Maintain production standards per minimum acceptable levels as set by management
  • Monitor all applications and supporting documentation to avoid and detect consumer fraud

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of the Mortgage Loan Officer is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s).

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. This position may require long periods of sitting in one place and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

MENTAL DEMANDS

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent job experience and education. Two years prior experience originating Conventional and Government loan products in a Secondary Market Environment
  • Proficient math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; adds, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures and write reports and correspondence.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and other mortgage and banking software
  • Ability to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other SVB lending policies
  • Current Illinois driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
