Senior Tax Manager - Bilingual Japanese

We are a leading regional CPA firm specializing in international tax services for Japanese clients. We seek an experienced and bilingual (Japanese) Senior Tax Manager to oversee and expand our tax practice. This crucial role includes managing complex tax operations and developing strategies that comply with both U.S. and international laws, ensuring optimal results for our high-net-worth clientele and corporations. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team, engage with multinational corporations, and directly impact our growth and success in the international market.

Salary: DOE per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and prepare complex Federal and multi-state tax returns for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, high-net-worth individuals, bankruptcies, and trusts.
  • Managed detailed accounting and complex tax issues.
  • Conduct both basic and advanced tax research to support client needs and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through regular communication and excellent service.
  • Identify opportunities for tax planning and consulting to enhance client benefits.
  • Responsible for the training, management, and development of staff, ensuring high standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with partners to manage challenging engagements and contribute to the strategic direction of the tax practice.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Tax, or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of 8 years' tax experience in a public accounting firm.
  • Current CPA license.
  • Proven attention to detail with strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Self-directed with an entrepreneurial work ethic and the ability to oversee multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the need for sponsorship at any point in the future.
  • Fluent in Japanese, both written and spoken, to effectively handle our Japanese client portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with international tax operations and compliance.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • Expertise in utilizing tax software and applications related to tax preparation and research.
  • Familiarity or exposure to Japanese business practices and tax laws.

Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Advanced proficiency in tax accounting software, such as CCH, BNA, and others.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Capacity to cope with pressures of tax deadlines and client expectations.
