Job Description
To coordinate, organize, and evaluate events to meet Student Accounts (SA) learning objectives geared towards enhancing students' success. This role supports the goal of increasing student belonging outside of the classroom, which allows them to develop and demonstrate life skills. These skills are developed during their higher education experience. The Student Accounts Event Coordinator is responsible for assisting Student Accounts in providing developmental opportunities for Life University students in the following disciplines: Financial Management, Resilience, Responsibility/Accountability, Independence/Interdependence, Self-Awareness, Goal Orientation, and Appreciation of Differences.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Polling students to determine which type of events would be most beneficial to them.
  • Polling students to determine the best day & time to host events.
  • Collaborates with Student Accounts team members and other departments to plan meaningful events based on students' needs and university learning objectives.
  • Develop, disseminate, and evaluate the results of pre- and post-test to determine events' effectiveness.
  • Promote events to increase student engagement in Student Account events and activities (marketing).
  • Manage shared email account.
  • Research events happening on campus, in local communities, and at other institutions to inform programming decisions.
  • Oversee event budgets, under the guidance of SA full-time staff, to forecast expenditures during planning and to track actual expenses at debrief.
  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with FWS Supervisor.
  • Communicate event needs to FWS Supervisor who will coordinate with Director of Student Engagement.
  • Obtains/acquires event specific equipment and expertise to operate the equipment for the purpose of making the event run smoothly.
  • Coordinate event details, negotiate, and maintain positive mutually beneficial working relationships with university departments, performers/agents, artists, managers, external vendors.
  • Maintains and regularly publishes an up-to-date calendar of activities and events that is made readily available to the whole department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPECTATIONS
  • Plan one event per quarter that meets Student Accounts learning objectives.
  • Submit hours worked in ADP and on check-in sheet each workday.
  • Provide supervisor with an updated work schedule by Wednesday of Week 0 each quarter.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business. Including: students, supervisors, employees, etc.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings and skill building sessions, suggesting future agenda items and topics.
  • Completes projects with little or no supervision.
  • Able to remedy mistakes/missed deadlines and knows when supervisor should be alerted.
  • Analyze, decide, plan, and follow through on commitments.
  • Proactively sets goals and takes necessary steps to achieve them.
  • Can adapt communication style and strategies to meet the communication needs of others.
  • Effectively handles last minute changes to tasks and can work efficiently under time constraints.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a Life University student awarded work study funds.
  • Demonstrates ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
  • Event Planning skill preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer service orientated, and dependable.
  • Works effectively with co-workers in teams and independently.
  • Can prioritize tasks by importance and time constraints.
  • Adapts behaviors in response to instruction and constructive criticism from supervisor.
  • High tolerance of ambiguity.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High-energy and enthusiastic individual who thrives under pressure and enjoys a fast-paced work environment.
