POSITION GOAL To perform skilled work in the preparation and service of nutritionally adequate, reimbursable meals and being responsible for meeting production deadlines and assume responsibility for the quality of food products. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Ability to follow directions, read, and communicate in English. Follow daily work schedules for food production, service, and cleaning. Demonstrate and promote exceptional customer service, using good judgment, and professionalism when interacting and communicating with the general public, students, parents, and staff. Adhere to food safety rules, departmental procedures, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and at all times, ensuring a safe work environment. Perform kitchen duties as assigned, including but not limited to, pre-preparation, food production, service, backup, clean-up, and check-in orders, as needed. Assist in ensuring that meal service is safe, and that good quality food is served according to approved meal pattern requirements at the appropriate times. Assist with proper storage and inventories for all supplies and food items received. Operate food service equipment in a safe manner. Maintain a clean work environment by removing and disposing of garbage and waste and placing it at the back door of the kitchen. Ensure sanitation practices are adhered to, including compliance with personal hygiene and grooming standards. Perform necessary cleaning of food service equipment and facilities that does not require climbing. Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities. Ensure adherence safety rules and procedures. Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies. Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee. Must take Food Service Substitute class as required by the Department of Health prior to assignment.
