Job Description
Summary
Think Academy seeks a passionate and energetic Language Arts teacher to instruct, lead, and support students at the primary and/or secondary levels. This is a
seasonal position for the 2025 summer session,
taking place June 9, 2025 - July 18, 2025. There will be additional dates required for training and orientation before the summer session begins.
We are looking for someone who is patient, engaging, and inspires a love of language arts in all students, works well with colleagues, and enjoys thinking about the art of teaching language arts. Strong candidates are attracted to our mission and see themselves as engaged community members. They will need to create and implement relevant curricula and varied assessments for their assigned courses. The teacher's daily activities include active classroom teaching and management, monitoring various methods of assessment, and mentoring assigned teaching assistants, if applicable. The teacher reports to the Think Summer Principal and the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
Teaching positions with Think Academy require familiarity with language arts curricula and experience working with children and/or teaching experience is preferred. Think Academy offers enrichment courses for both primary and secondary grade levels.

Essential Functions
Design thoughtful lessons, activities, and assessments for assigned language arts course(s).
Help students demonstrate their thinking clearly and systematically.
Give timely feedback and/or grades on written work and assessments.
Collaborate with parents and other teachers to offer individualized support for each student's learning goals.
Communicate effectively with students and families about classwork, learning goals, and student progress.
Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy, in and out of the classroom. Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.
Set high expectations for student learning, academic achievement, and character development.
Other Responsibilities
Supervise assigned student teaching assistants, if necessary.
Attend faculty training, open house, and Think Summer Family Night.
Abide by safety policies and procedures for assigned camper age groups.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education
A high school diploma is required.
A bachelor's degree in English and/or related area(s) is preferred.
Advanced studies in education or professional experience are preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Deep knowledge of the course content in language arts and the ability to convey that knowledge to students clearly and coherently.
Demonstrable and effective classroom management skills.
Ability to work well with people, especially adolescents.
Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and public relations skills.
Strong organizational skills and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Experience
Experience and expertise in assigned course curriculum is required.
Prior experience working with adolescents is strongly preferred.
Prior classroom teaching experience is preferred.
Working Environment
Generally, duties are performed indoors and outdoors in a classroom, office setting, open space, or athletic facility.
Hours are generally from 7:50 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extensions for before and after school care programs. Partial days are available.
Additional required events may take place outdoors and may extend into pre-school hours, the late afternoon/evening, or weekends.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency. Involves long periods of standing/sitting. Frequently involves carrying textbooks and classroom supplies, communicating/speaking, retrieving files and supplies, writing, using a computer, and reading for daily teaching and grading.
